The Purposes of Cub Scouting
Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of America has helped younger boys through Cub Scouting. At Pack 62 we plan to accomplish these things through several avenues:
First, and foremost we have the Den. As a small group, the Scouts work toward completing achievements, badges, arrow points, belt loops and patches. This is a great way for the Scouts to learn and develop skills, in a fun and safe manner, and develop lifelong friendships.
Secondly, the Pack meeting is the place where we can come together and share our experiences, our triumphs and yes, even our failures. It is a place where we can interact with others who have the same dreams and goals for our children. It is a safe place where we can laugh together and join our children in activities, honor God, and give respect to our country. It is the one time a month that we bring all our families together to celebrate our children?s achievements and successes.
Thirdly, we have a monthly Pack Activity. This is a fun filled low or no cost activity/excursion to local area points of interest. This is a great time for the Cub Scouts to come together in a larger group. It is a time where the young Tigers and Wolves can look to the Bears and Webelos as role models, where the children can experience new places and skill that they otherwise may never have been exposed to. Remember the fun we had at the Picnic, the Pinewood Derby, the Camping!! (just to name a few)
Last but not least we want to thank all of you parents in advance. It is a great thing that you do for your children. We could not do this without your support. We know how busy and hectic things can be and we appreciate you taking the time to make sure your scout gets to the Den meetings and activities, providing snacks, bringing your family to the Pack meetings, participating in fundraisers, and volunteering your time to lead your child?s group.
We are fortunate to have in place a great group of volunteers on the pack committee. We dedicate our time and energy to making this a great experience for you, your scout, and your family.
Please do not hesitate to let us, or anyone on the Committee know your thoughts and feelings on making this a positive experience for all of us. Any and feedback is appreciated.
